Golden, Chewy, and Homemade with Love 🍕🍞🫶There’s just something so satisfying about homemade pizza—especially when it’s made in a cast iron skillet. This Cast Iron Skillet Pizza Dough gives you a perfectly golden crust with crispy edges and a chewy, pillowy center. It’s simple, no-fuss, and turns your kitchen into the coziest pizzeria in town.
Whether it’s Friday night pizza with the family or a make-your-own pizza night with friends, this dough is the one I come back to over and over again. You just mix, let it rise, press it into your favorite skillet, and top it with whatever your heart (or fridge) desires. It reminds me of a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza in the best way!

Why You’ll Love This Dough
✔ Foolproof and Flexible – No stand mixer needed✔ Crispy Bottom, Chewy Center – Thank you, cast iron magic✔ One Bowl – Minimal mess, maximum comfort✔ Make Ahead Friendly – Keeps in the fridge or freezer✔ Totally Customizable – Top it any way you like
The Recipe: Cast Iron Skillet Pizza Dough
Ingredients (For one 10–12” skillet pizza):
2 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for kneading)
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
¾ tsp salt
¾ cup warm water
1 tbsp olive oil (plus more for greasing the skillet)
Instructions:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, and salt.
Add warm water and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 4–5 minutes until smooth and slightly elastic.
Place the dough back in the bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm spot for 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
Once risen, grease your cast iron skillet with olive oil (don’t skip the edges!)
Press the dough into the skillet, stretching it gently to the sides. Cover and let it rest for 15–20 minutes while the oven preheats to 450°F.
Add your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Make It Your Own
🍅 Use homemade or jarred marinara, pesto, or garlic oil as your base🧀 Go classic with mozzarella or try feta, cheddar, or burrata🌿 Add fresh basil, arugula, or chili flakes after baking for extra flair
Why This Recipe Lives on Repeat in My Kitchen it is cozy, easy, and just downright fun. The crust gets that perfect crisp on the bottom while staying soft and chewy in the middle—all thanks to the cast iron. It’s the kind of dinner that feels like a treat but comes together with pantry staples and a little love.
