How to Make Crock Pot Philly Cheesesteak
1. Prep Your Crock Pot
Place the chuck roast directly into the crock pot.
2. Add All Seasonings
Sprinkle on:
Lawry’s salt
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper
3. Add Veggies + Extras
Add to the crock pot:
Onion slices
Bell pepper slices
Celery
Zucchini
Banana peppers
Banana pepper juice (optional for extra tang)
Worcestershire sauce
Broth
4. Slow Cook
Cook on LOW for 8–10 hours.
You can’t overcook it — the longer it cooks, the more tender and shreddable the roast becomes.(I put mine in before work and let it go closer to 10 hours!)
5. Shred the Meat
Before serving:
Remove the roast
Shred it with forks
Remove large pieces of fat
Add the shredded meat back into the juices
This step is key — it soaks up all that amazing flavor.
6. Build Your Cheesesteaks
Slice hoagie rolls add provolone cheese
Toast them in the oven until golden
Pile on the shredded Philly cheesesteak meat
Add any toppings you love
Banana peppers, sautéed mushrooms, or even a little mayo make them incredible.
Tips for the Best Crock Pot Philly Cheesesteak
Banana pepper juice adds amazing flavor — tangy, savory, not spicy
Use provolone, not American — it melts perfectly and tastes authentic
Toast your bread so it doesn’t get soggy
Leftovers? Use them for quesadillas, rice bowls, or stuffed peppers
Add more broth if you like a saucier sandwich
