The Recipe: Easy One-Pot Meat Sauce
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage (or a mix)
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes (or fire-roasted for extra flavor)
Or a jar of marinara sauce (makes it even easier)
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
1 teaspoon sugar (balances acidity)
½ cup beef or chicken broth or red wine (for depth of flavor)

Instructions:

4. Simmer & Develop Flavor
Add dried pasta and cook in the pot. simmer for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If you do not have enough liquid, simply add more broth! I love cooking the pasta in the sauce, it makes it so flavorful.
