The Recipe: Leftover Sourdough Garlic Bread
Ingredients:
½ loaf of old sourdough bread, sliced (or any leftover sourdough!)
¼ cup butter, softened
2 tbsp olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder for a milder flavor)
½ tsp garlic salt
½ tsp Italian seasoning (or dried oregano, basil, and thyme)
¼ cup grated Parmesan (optional, for cheesy garlic bread!)
1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
Step 2: Make the Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, mix softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning until well combined.
📌 Pro Tip: If your butter is too hard, microwave it for 10 seconds to soften (but don’t melt it completely!).
Step 3: Prep the Sourdough
Slice your leftover sourdough into thick or thin slices, depending on your preference.
Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over each slice.
If using Parmesan, sprinkle it on top now.
📌 Want extra crispy garlic bread? Drizzle a little extra olive oil on top before baking!
Step 4: Bake Until Golden & Crispy
Place the bread slices on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 8–10 minutes until the edges are crispy and golden brown.
If you like soft garlic bread simply spread the mixer on the bread and then stack the slices together and put in tinfoil. This creates the softest buttery garlic bread!
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor. Totally optional.
Serve warm with pasta, soup, salads, or just eat it on its own!
📌 Cheesy Upgrade: Add shredded mozzarella or more Parmesan in the last 2 minutes of baking for melty, cheesy garlic bread.
